Leeds Castle

Sawyer & Fisher has had the pleasure of working at Leeds Castle for a number of years,

mainly involving stonework repairs and repointing to the external elevations to the gatehouse, Maiden’s Tower and Main Castle, including both dressed and ragstone, and external door and windows; the Moat Bridge including soffits of both arches and associated flank walls; the taking up and relaying of cobble stone paving which crosses the bridge and the installation of new underground drainage.

Other works have included:

Alterations and internal repairs to the Maiden’s Tower to form new guest bedrooms, conference and dining facilities along with new kitchen and toilet facilities.

Upgrading of areas within the gatehouse.

Re-roofing of the Gate House, Maiden’s Tower.

Removal of existing swimming pool installation to the Maiden’s Tower and re-landscaping of the garden.

Leeds Castle and the Maiden’s Tower are Listed Grade 1 buildings of architectural importance and remained open and fully operational as a Museum and Visitors’ Centre during the works.
