St Alban’s Cathedral

STONE REPAIRS AND REROOFING

The works in this contract comprised of

the external stonework repairs to the east and north elevations of the Lady Chapel and the North Ambulatory
the Chapel of Transfiguration and it’s re-roofing
together with the repairs to the 11th and 12th century stonework to the Cloisters which remain attached to the south wall of the Nave
including associated external works and drainage

ST AMPHIBALUS SHRINE

This contract comprises the repair and consolidation of St Amphibalus Shrine.

The first phase is the careful dismantling and recording of the existing Shrine in the North Ambulatory
The second phase is the conservation/consolidation of existing element of St Amphibalus Shrine and the supply of new elements which are missing or beyond repair
The third phase includes the alterations to the Chapel of the Four Tapers in readiness for the relocation of the Shrine and the repair of the North Ambulatory following the removal of the Shrine from its existing location
The fourth phase comprises the reassembly of the Shrine, restored with new stone elements

St Alban’s Cathedral is a Grade 1 listed building and Scheduled Ancient Monument of the greatest historical and architectural importance.
